Huaqing Pool is located at the north foot of Mountain Li and the east of Xi’an City. Since ancient times, here has been the resort for sightseeing and bath. It attracted emperors of all dynasties who founded their capital inXi’anto build villas and temporary imperial palaces here by its geographical position next to the capital, charming and beautiful scenery of Mountain Li as well as naturally formed hot spring. In the eighteenth year of Zhenguan Period (644A.D.), Emperor Taizong of Tang Dynasty, Li Shimin assigned personnel to create “TangquanPalace”. Since then, Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty, Li Longji had ordered to expand it for several times during Kaiyuan and Tianbao Period, and finally the new palace was finished in October of 747 A.D. and was renamed as “Huaqing Palace”. Most love stories between Li Longji and Yang Yuhuan happened here.
