      The 1st Global Programmer's Festival Opens in Xi’an

      The 1st Global Programmer's Festival will be held on November 9-11 at Xi’an Greenland PICO in Xi'an Hi-tech Industries Development Zone. At present, all the preparatory work are ready. At the Festival, many honorable programmers from both home and abroad will gather in Xi’an to share their experience and insights into the industry.

      The 1st Global Programmer's Festival attracts many elite programmers

      Although this is the 1st festival of its kind, the activity attracted wide attention from international programmer’s community and the software industry. According to the published list of participants, renowned experts and young elite such as Zhang Yaqin, CEO of Baidu; Chen Yuhong, Chairman of Chinasoft International; Zheng Yelai, President of Huawei Cloud Bu; Yin Qi, the founder of Face++ will attend the Festival.

      The participants also include many honorable senior programmers: Wang Yongmin, the inventor of the Five-Stroke Structure; Gong Min, one of the founders of ChinaUnix.net; Qiu Bojun, the founder of Kingsoft Software; Wang Jizhi, inventor of OKI typewriter; Wu Xiaojun, founder of 2.13 Chinese character system; Zhou Zhinong, founder of ZRM Chinese character input system; Zhu Chongjun, inventor of CCED; Chen Jiangning, inventor of TW Chinese character system; Bao Yueqiao, developer of UCDOS and Chen Zongzhou, founder of ICPCW. At the Festival, they will share experience of being programmers and code the future together with the young elite programmers.

      The Global Programmer's Festival in Xi’an has received enthusiastic responses and congratulations from programmers from the international community.

      Masako Wakamiya, an 82-year-old iOS developer from Japan and the oldest programmer in the world, also applied to attend the meeting. She started to learn how to program at 60 after retirement by using her first computer. In 2016, the Hinadan, the first game developed by her was put on the App Store and became one of the most popular game apps. Her story inspired countless female young programmers. Later, Tim Cook, Apple CEO paid a special visit to Masako Wakamiya and invited her to program for Apple.

      Taking into consideration of her physical condition and the long-distance flight from Japan to Xi’an, her family suggested a video link to be provided during the Festival between the audience and Masako Wakamiya for a face-to-face communication.

      In addition, Aaron Patterson, the famous programmer at Silicon Valley will arrive at Xi’an this week. Other programmers and experts such as Kenneth Lane Thompson, founder of Unix and David Heinemeier Hasson, founder of Ruby on Rails Wed have sent congratulatory letters.

      Medals to be conferred to excellence programmer awardees

      Under the theme of “Digital Silk Road and Coding the Future”, the Festival consists of Opening Ceremony, Forum, Programmer Carnival and the Award Ceremony of “the Liberation Cup” Programmer Competition. In addition, at the international job fair for programmers, well-known enterprises such as Ali Cloud, Samsung, Hikvision, Chinasoft International, Dangdang, DJI and 360 will offer thousands of high value positions

      Officials from the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will confer medals to excellence programmer awardees. At the Carnival in the evening, the Antique Greeting Ceremony will be held to show respect for their contributions to China's software industry.

      The Forum under the theme of “Coding the Thoughts” on the afternoon of November 9 will center on the competitiveness and future development of the software industry in Xi’an. The White Paper on Human Resources of Software Information Technology Services in Digital Silk Road Silicon Valley-Xi'an Hi-tech Industries Development Zone will be launched to introduce the overwhelming talent advantage in Xi’an in the field of software information technology. Representatives from Chinasoft International, Huawei, Microsoft and HSBC will share their penetrating insight into the software industry with business representatives from Glasssix and ThoughtWorks.
